It's no secret...we love sweets!

We know that there are a lot of companies that offer cupcakes, wedding cakes and other desserts but we believe that at Sweet Potato Baby what we offer stands out.

Our first line of products are our cupcakes, which are made with fresh fruit or vegetables, and our services range from catering dessert bars to serving as your private chef to assisting your organization with fundraising by selling our desserts.  We offer high quality products and we are unconventional!

Sweet Potato Baby got started because we simply love to COOK! Creative energy and an enthusiasm in the kitchen keeps us going and using high quality ingredients is what we stand for.

TO CAKE OR NOT TO CAKE

We believe Marie Antoinette was onto something with the infamous statement "Let them eat cake!" Because, let's be realistic...who doesn't love cake?  

Sweet Potato Baby offers full, half and quarter sheet cakes. We provide a wide range of preparations that can be simple or elaborate.  From butter cakes to chiffon cakes, fruit preserve fillings to ganache; our cakes serve as a wonderful accompaniment to your next celebration.

Our team will work closely with you to choose a cake flavor, icing and a beautiful design that best matches the theme and style of your event.

We offer private, group and community cake decorating classes.

Each class is $60 per person, lasts for two (2) hours and is usually themed (i.e flower cupcakes, holiday baking, etc.).  Come on out and have fun with us.

In addition to our delectable pastries we also offer private, group and community cake decorating classes.  To find out about upcoming culinary and pastry classes please visit our events page or give us a call.  
Each class is $60 per person, lasts for two (2) hours is usually themed (i.e flower cupcakes, diabetic-friendly cuisine, etc.). Please email us or call us to discuss group rates.

COMMUNITY CLASSES

If you're a newbie to the kitchen, a professional or just looking to have a great night out, then enrolling in a Sweet Potato Baby Culinary or Pastry class is exactly where you need to be.  

Please join us for hands-on cooking classes, led by our Executive Chef Aryen Moore-Alston. We also offer affordable, recreational culinary education for youth of all ages.  To find out when we have another community class available please visit our events page.

Chef Aryen Moore-Alston, Chef-in-Residence at the Jay Uiberall Culinary Academy at Knowledge Quest, giving instruction.

Jay Uiberall Culinary Academy

In addition to being the Executive Chef of Sweet Potato Baby and a Wilton Cake Decorating Method Instructor, Chef Moore-Alston is also the Chef-in-Residence at the Jay Uiberall Culinary Academy at Knowledge Quest (J.U.C.A.) and teaches high school students (ages 15-18) Culinary & Pastry Arts and Restaurant Management.

J.U.C.A. is a National Restaurant Association (NRA) Education Foundation ProStart Academy - a nationwide two-year high school program that unites the classroom and industry to develop the best and brightest talent into tomorrow’s restaurant and foodservice leaders. 

JUCA provides the opportunity for students to learn more about culinary arts through direct engagement in training activities with guest chefs, learning culinary basics, and developing their own unique talents by creating signature dishes using fresh produce planted, cultivated, and harvested by the students themselves.

Growing up in Naples, Italy, Chef Aryen and her sister Keisha spent a lot of time on the beach (and were never short of a tan). One summer while visiting their Grandmother "G-mama" in Little Rock, AR, G-mama asked their mother, "Where did you get those Sweet Potato Babies?"  

So when the time came to name the business, it was out of pure love and nostalgia that Chef Aryen named the company Sweet Potato Baby. That, and the fact that Chef Aryen had tons of frozen pureed sweet potatoes in the freezer from making her daughter's baby food and baked them into our now Signature Sweet Potato Baby cupcake.

Cupcakes are how we began and they're also where we shine.  From our Signature Sweet Potato Baby cupcake (made with sweet potatoes) to our Black Velveteen cupcake (made with acai berries) to our R.E.D. Velvet cupcake (made with beets) we set out on a journey to create a cupcake that is deceptively delicious - by baking fruits or vegetables into each and every cupcake...and we succeeded.
